Hebrews 4 (AS21)
1 Portanto, ainda que nos tenha sido deixada a promessa de entrarmos no seu descanso, temamos para que nenhum de vós pareça ter falhado. 2 Porque as boas-novas também foram pregadas a nós, assim como a eles; mas a palavra da pregação de nada lhes aproveitou, porque não foi acompanhada pela fé nos que a ouviram. 3 Porque somos nós, os que temos crido, que entramos no descanso, conforme ele disse:Assim jurei na minha ira: Não entrarão no meu descanso, embora as suas obras estivessem completas desde a fundação do mundo. 4 Pois em certo lugar, ele assim se referiu ao sétimo dia:E, no sétimo dia, Deus descansou de todas as suas obras; 5 e nesse mesmo lugar, diz outra vez:Não entrarão no meu descanso. 6 Portanto, visto que restam alguns para entrar, e aqueles a quem antes foram pregadas as boas-novas não entraram por causa da desobediência, 7 determina outra vez certo dia, chamado Hoje, depois de passado tanto tempo, ao dizer por intermédio de Davi, como já havia sido falado antes:Hoje, se ouvirdes a sua voz, não endureçais vosso coração. 8 Pois Deus não teria falado depois disso a respeito de outro dia, se Josué lhes houvesse dado descanso. 9 Portanto, ainda resta um repouso sabático para o povo de Deus. 10 Pois assim como Deus descansou de suas obras, aquele que entrou no descanso de Deus também descansou das suas. 11 Em vista disso, esforcemo-nos por entrar naquele descanso, para que ninguém caia no mesmo exemplo de desobediência. 12 Porque a palavra de Deus é viva e eficaz, mais cortante que qualquer espada de dois gumes; penetra até o ponto de dividir alma e espírito, juntas e medulas, e é capaz de perceber os pensamentos e intenções do coração. 13 E não há criatura alguma encoberta diante dele; antes todas as coisas estão descobertas e expostas aos olhos daquele a quem deveremos prestar contas. 14 Portanto, tendo um grande sumo sacerdote, Jesus, o Filho de Deus, que entrou no céu, mantenhamos com firmeza nossa declaração pública de fé. 15 Porque não temos um sumo sacerdote que não possa compadecer-se das nossas fraquezas, mas alguém que, à nossa semelhança, foi tentado em todas as coisas, porém sem pecado. 16 Portanto, aproximemo-nos com confiança do trono da graça, para que recebamos misericórdia e encontremos graça, a fim de sermos socorridos no momento oportuno.
