1 Depois dessas coisas, vi uma porta aberta no céu, e a primeira voz que eu ouvira, voz como de trombeta, falando comigo, disse: Sobe aqui, e eu te mostrarei as coisas que devem acontecer depois destas. 2 Fui imediatamente arrebatado em espírito e vi um trono no céu com alguém assentado sobre ele. 3 Aquele que estava assentado tinha a aparência semelhante a uma pedra de jaspe e sárdio. Ao redor do trono havia um arco-íris semelhante a uma esmeralda. 4 Ao redor do trono havia também vinte e quatro tronos; vi assentados sobre eles vinte e quatro anciãos, vestidos de branco e com coroas de ouro sobre a cabeça. 5 Do trono saíam relâmpagos, vozes e trovões; diante do trono estavam acesas sete lâmpadas de fogo, que são os sete espíritos de Deus. 6 Diante do trono também havia algo parecido com um mar de vidro, claro como cristal. No meio e ao redor do trono havia quatro seres viventes cheios de olhos, na frente e atrás. 7 O primeiro ser era semelhante a um leão; o segundo, semelhante a um touro; o terceiro tinha rosto de homem e o quarto era semelhante a uma águia voando. 8 Cada um dos seres viventes tinha seis asas que estavam cheias de olhos em volta e por baixo. De dia e de noite eles diziam sem cessar: Santo, Santo, Santo é o Senhor Deus, o Todo-poderoso, aquele que era, que é e que há de vir. 9 Sempre que os seres viventes davam glória e honra e ações de graças ao que estava assentado no trono, ao que vive pelos séculos dos séculos, 10 os vinte e quatro anciãos prostravam-se diante do que estava assentado no trono, adoravam o que vive pelos séculos dos séculos e lançavam suas coroas diante do trono, dizendo: 11 Nosso Senhor e nosso Deus, tu és digno de receber a glória, a honra e o poder, porque tu criaste todas as coisas e, por tua vontade, elas existiram e foram criadas.
