Isaiah 26 (LBA)
1 En ce jour-là, ce cantique sera chanté dans la terre de Juda : Nous avons une ville forte ! Il mettra le salut dans ses murs et ses avant-murs. 2 Ouvrez les portes ; laissez entrer la nation juste et qui garde la fidélité ! 3 Au cœur constant tu assures la paix, la paix, parce qu'il se confie en toi. 4 Confiez-vous en l'Eternel à perpétuité ; car l'Eternel, l'Eternel, est le rocher des siècles ! 5 Car il a humilié ceux qui trônaient bien haut ; il abaisse la ville élevée, il l'abaisse jusqu'en terre, il lui fait toucher la poussière ; 6 elle est foulée aux pieds, sous les pieds des humbles, sous les pas des misérables ! 7 Le chemin du juste est uni ; tu aplanis parfaitement la voie du juste. 8 Aussi t'avons-nous attendu, ô Eternel, sur le sentier de tes jugements ; ton nom et ton souvenir étaient tout le désir de nos âmes. 9 Mon âme t'a désiré pendant la nuit, et mon esprit en moi te recherche ; car lorsque tes jugements frappent la terre, les habitants du monde apprennent la justice. 10 Fait-on grâce au méchant, il n'apprend pas la justice ; au pays de la droiture il agira en pervers, et il ne verra pas la majesté de l'Eternel. 11 Eternel, ta main est levée ; ils ne la voient point... Ils verront, avec confusion, ton zèle pour ton peuple ; le feu dévorera tes adversaires. 12 Eternel, tu nous accorderas la paix ; car même toute notre œuvre, c'est toi qui l'as faite pour nous. 13 Eternel, notre Dieu, d'autres seigneurs que toi ont dominé sur nous. C'est par toi seul que nous célébrons ton nom. 14 Morts, ils ne vivront plus ; ombres, ils ne se relèveront point. C'est pourquoi tu les as visités et exterminés, et tu as anéanti tout souvenir d'eux. 15 Tu as accru la nation, Eternel ; tu as accru la nation ; tu t'es glorifié ; tu as étendu toutes les limites du pays ! 16 Eternel, dans la détresse ils t'ont recherché ; ils ont répandu leur plainte, quand tu les frappais. 17 Comme une femme enceinte et prête à enfanter se tord et crie dans ses douleurs, ainsi nous avons tremblé devant ta face, ô Eternel ! 18 Nous avons conçu, nous avons été en travail ; quand nous avons enfanté, c'était du vent ; nous ne donnerons pas le salut à la terre, et il ne naîtra pas d'habitants du monde. 19 Que tes morts revivent ; que mes cadavres se relèvent ! Réveillez-vous, éclatez de joie, vous qui êtes couchés dans la poussière ; car ta rosée est une rosée de l'aurore, et la terre mettra au jour les trépassés ! 20 Va, mon peuple, entre dans tes chambres, et ferme tes portes sur toi ; cache-toi pour un instant jusqu'à ce que la colère ait passé. 21 Car voici, l'Eternel sort de sa résidence pour visiter l'iniquité des habitants de la terre, et la terre découvrira le sang qu'elle a bu et ne cachera plus ses tués !
