Revelation 9 (AS21)
1 O quinto anjo tocou sua trombeta, e vi uma estrela que havia caído do céu sobre a terra; e foi-lhe dada a chave do poço do abismo. 2 Quando ela abriu o poço do abismo, subiu fumaça do poço, como fumaça de uma grande fornalha. Então o sol e o céu escureceram com a fumaça do poço. 3 Da fumaça saíram gafanhotos sobre a terra e foi-lhes dado poder como o dos escorpiões da terra. 4 A eles foram dadas ordens para que não causassem dano à vegetação da terra, nem à plantação ou a árvore alguma, mas somente aos que não tivessem o selo de Deus na testa. 5 Foi-lhes permitido que os atormentassem durante cinco meses, sem os matar. A dor causada por eles era como a da picada de um escorpião. 6 Naqueles dias os homens buscarão a morte, mas não a encontrarão; desejarão morrer, mas a morte fugirá deles. 7 Os gafanhotos eram parecidos com cavalos aparelhados para a guerra. Tinham sobre a cabeça coroas douradas e o rosto deles era como rosto humano. 8 Tinham cabelos como os de mulher e dentes como os de leão. 9 Tinham couraças como couraças de ferro e o som de suas asas era como o de muitas carruagens de cavalos correndo para o combate. 10 Tinham caudas com ferrões, semelhantes às dos escorpiões. Na cauda estava seu poder para causar tormento aos homens durante cinco meses. 11 Tinham um rei sobre eles, o anjo do abismo, cujo nome em hebraico é Abadom, e em grego, Apoliom. 12 O primeiro ai já passou, e depois disso dois ais ainda virão. 13 O sexto anjo tocou sua trombeta, e ouvi uma voz que vinha das quatro pontas do altar de ouro que estava diante de Deus, 14 a qual dizia ao sexto anjo, que estava com a trombeta: Solta os quatro anjos que estão presos junto do grande rio Eufrates. 15 Então, os quatro anjos, que haviam sido preparados para aquela hora, dia, mês e ano, foram soltos, a fim de matar a terça parte dos homens. 16 O número dos exércitos dos cavaleiros era de duzentos milhões, conforme o número que ouvi. 17 Assim eram os cavalos que vi nesta visão: seus cavaleiros tinham couraças de fogo, de jacinto e de enxofre; a cabeça dos cavalos era como a de um leão, e de sua boca saíam fogo, fumaça e enxofre. 18 A terça parte dos homens foi morta por essas três pragas, isto é, pelo fogo, pela fumaça e pelo enxofre, que lhes saíam da boca. 19 Pois o poder dos cavalos estava na boca e na cauda. Porque a cauda deles era semelhante a de uma serpente, e nela havia cabeças com as quais causavam dano. 20 Os outros homens, que não foram mortos por essas pragas, não se arrependeram das obras de suas mãos; não deixaram de adorar os demônios, nem os ídolos de ouro, de prata, de bronze, de pedra e de madeira, que não podem ver, nem ouvir, nem andar. 21 Também não se arrependeram de seus homicídios, nem de suas feitiçarias, nem de sua prostituição, nem de seus furtos.
