1 Vocês todos me conhecem como o ancião principal. Estou escrevendo esta carta a todos vocês [MET] que se congregam porque Deus os escolheu. Amo vocês profundamente! E não somente eu mesmo amo vocês, como também os amam todos os que conhecem e aceitam a verdadeira mensagem que Jesus ensinava! 2 Todos nós cremos na mensagem verdadeira; ela está em nosso ser interior, e vamos continuar acreditando nela para sempre! 3 Deus Pai e Jesus Cristo, que é—o Filho dele/o homem que é também Deus— continuarão agindo de uma maneira bondosa e misericordiosa para conosco porque nos amam. Eles vão capacitar-nos a ter a paz interior, por causa de crermos na mensagem verdadeira. 4 Estou muito contente, pois descobri que alguns de vocês [SYN] estão se comportando de uma forma consistente com a verdadeira mensagem de Deus. Vocês estão se comportando justamente como nosso Pai Deus mandou que nos comportássemos. 5 E agora, querida congregação [MET], peço que vocês façam algo. Estou pedindo isto, não para mandar que façam algo novo, senão que continuem fazendo aquilo que Deus nos mandou fazer quando cremos inicialmente [MET] na verdadeira mensagem dele. Aquilo que ele mandou é que nos amássemos mutuamente. 6 Realmente estamos amando a Deus quando nos comportamos de acordo com aquilo que Deus nos manda fazer. O que Ele nos manda fazer é continuarmos vivendo de acordo com aquilo que Deus nos manda fazer. Isso é justamente o que vocês ouviram quando começaram [MTY] a crer na verdadeira mensagem de Deus. 7 Muitas pessoas que enganam seus semelhantes abandonaram sua congregação e já saíram entre outras pessoas da sua região [MTY]. São esses indivíduos que não confessam que Jesus Cristo se tornou ser humano. São aqueles que enganam as pessoas e se opõem àquilo que ensinamos sobre Cristo. 8 Tenham cuidado, portanto, para que nenhum desses mestres os engane! Se eles os enganarem, vocês perderão o galardão para o qual nós e vocês estamos trabalhando, e vocês não receberão o galardão integral de estarem unidos eternamente com Deus! 9 Se alguém modificar aquilo que Cristo ensinava, deixando de acreditar no que ele ensinava, tal pessoa não tem um relacionamento com Deus. Mas se alguém continuar acreditando naquilo que Cristo ensinava, tal pessoa tem um íntimo relacionamento com Deus Pai e com—seu Filho/aquele que é também Deus. 10 Quando você encontrarem alguém que não ensine aquilo que Cristo ensinava, não o acolham em casa! Não o animem, desejando-lhe bênçãos de nenhuma forma! 11 Lembrem-se que, se associarem a ele, Deus irá castigá-los junto com ele pelo mal que ele tiver feito. 12 Mesmo que eu tenha muito mais que gostaria de lhes dizer, resolvi não dizê-lo por meio de uma carta [MTY]. Em vez disso, espero poder estar em breve com vocês e falar-lhes diretamente. Então estaremos muito contentes na companhia uns dos outros. 13 Seus irmãos crentes daqui [MET], aqueles que Deus também chamou, —mandam dizer que estão pensando em vocês/que lhes mandam saudações.
