Zephaniah 2 (AS21)
1 Reuni-vos, reuni-vos, ó nação sem pudor; 2 antes que o decreto produza efeito e o dia passe como a palha; antes que venha sobre vós o furor da ira do SENHOR; antes que venha sobre vós o dia da ira do SENHOR. 3 Buscai o SENHOR, vós todos os humildes da terra, que cumpris o seu juízo; buscai a justiça, buscai a humildade; talvez sejais poupados no dia da ira do SENHOR. 4 Gaza será desamparada, e Asquelom, destruída; Asdode será expulsa ao meio-dia, e Ecrom, desarraigada. 5 Ai dos habitantes do litoral, da nação dos quereteus! A palavra do SENHOR é contra vós, ó Canaã, terra dos filisteus; e eu vos destruirei sem que reste nem sequer um habitante. 6 O litoral se transformará em pastagem, com cabanas para os pastores e currais para os rebanhos. 7 O litoral pertencerá ao restante da casa de Judá, para que se alimentem ali; de tarde se deitarão nas casas de Asquelom; pois o SENHOR, seu Deus, cuidará deles e os trará de volta do cativeiro. 8 Ouvi o insulto de Moabe e a zombaria da terra de Amom, com que insultaram o meu povo e ameaçaram tomar-lhe o território. 9 Portanto, diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos, o Deus de Israel: Tão certo como eu vivo, Moabe será como Sodoma, e a terra de Amom, como Gomorra, campo de urtigas e poços de sal e ruína perpétua; o restante do meu povo os saqueará, e o restante da minha nação os possuirá. 10 Essa será a recompensa da sua arrogância, pois insultaram e ameaçaram o povo do SENHOR dos Exércitos. 11 O SENHOR será terrível contra eles quando destruir todos os deuses da terra; todas as ilhas das nações o adorarão, cada uma em seu lugar. 12 Ó etíopes, vós também sereis mortos pela minha espada. 13 Ele ainda estenderá a mão contra o norte e destruirá a Assíria; e fará de Nínive uma ruína, terra árida como o deserto. 14 No meio dela se deitarão rebanhos, todos os animais selvagens; pelicanos e bichos selvagens se alojarão no topo de suas colunas; o som das aves se ouvirá nas janelas; e haverá ruínas nas entradas; pois ele expôs o madeiramento de cedro. 15 Esta é a cidade alegre, que vivia em segurança, que dizia no coração: Eu sou, e fora de mim não há outra. Como ela se transformou em ruína, em toca de animais selvagens! Todo aquele que passar por ela zombará e sacudirá a mão.
