Zephaniah 2 (ELBE)
1 Geht in euch und sammelt euch, du Nation ohne Scham, 2 ehe der Beschluss gebiert, – wie Spreu fährt der Tag daher – ehe denn über euch komme die Glut des Zorns des HERRN, ehe denn über euch komme der Tag des Zorns des HERRN! 3 Sucht den HERRN, alle ihr Sanftmütigen des Landes, die ihr sein Recht gewirkt habt; sucht Gerechtigkeit, sucht Demut; vielleicht werdet ihr geborgen am Tag des Zorns des HERRN. 4 Denn Gaza wird verlassen und Askalon eine Wüste sein; Asdod: am hellen Mittag wird man es vertreiben, und Ekron wird entwurzelt werden. 5 Wehe den Bewohnern des Landstrichs am Meer, der Nation der Keretiter! Das Wort des HERRN kommt über euch, Kanaan, Land der Philister, und ich werde dich vernichten, dass kein Bewohner mehr bleibt. 6 Und der Landstrich am Meer wird zu Triften voll Hirtenzisternen und Kleinviehhürden werden; 7 und es wird ein Landstrich sein für den Überrest des Hauses Juda: Sie werden darauf weiden und am Abend sich lagern in den Häusern Askalons; denn der HERR, ihr Gott, wird sich ihrer annehmen und ihre Gefangenschaft wenden. 8 Ich habe gehört die Schmähung Moabs und die Lästerungen der Kinder Ammon, womit sie mein Volk geschmäht und großgetan haben gegen dessen Gebiet. 9 Darum, so wahr ich lebe, spricht der HERR der Heerscharen, der Gott Israels, soll Moab gewisslich wie Sodom und die Kinder Ammon wie Gomorra werden, ein Besitztum der Brennnesseln und eine Salzgrube und eine Wüste ewiglich. Der Überrest meines Volkes wird sie berauben, und das Überbleibsel meiner Nation sie beerben. 10 Dies wird ihnen für ihren Hochmut zuteil, weil sie das Volk des HERRN der Heerscharen geschmäht und gegen dasselbe großgetan haben. 11 Furchtbar wird der HERR gegen sie sein, denn er wird hinschwinden lassen alle Götter der Erde; und alle Inseln der Nationen werden ihn anbeten, jeder von seiner Stätte aus. 12 Auch ihr Äthiopier werdet Erschlagene meines Schwertes sein. 13 Und er wird seine Hand nach Norden ausstrecken, und wird Assyrien vernichten und Ninive zur Wüste machen, dürr wie die Steppe. 14 Und in seiner Mitte werden Herden sich lagern, allerlei Tiere in Menge; auch Pelikane, auch Igel werden auf seinen Säulenknäufen übernachten. Eine Stimme singt im Fenster, Trümmer sind auf der Schwelle, denn er hat das Zederngetäfel bloßgelegt. 15 Das ist die frohlockende Stadt, die in Sicherheit wohnte, die in ihrem Herzen sprach: Ich bin es und gar keine sonst! Wie ist sie zur Wüste geworden, zum Lagerplatz der wilden Tiere! Jeder, der an ihr vorüberzieht, wird zischen, wird seine Hand schwenken.
