Livro da visão de Naum, da cidade de Elcos. 2 O SENHOR é Deus zelosoe vingador,o SENHOR é vingadore cheio de ira;o SENHOR toma vingançacontra os seus adversáriose reserva indignaçãopara os seus inimigos. 3 O SENHOR é tardio em irar-se,mas grande em podere jamais inocenta o culpado. O SENHOR tem o seu caminhona tormenta e na tempestade,e as nuvens são a poeirados seus pés. 4 Repreende o mar, e ele seca;faz com que todos os riosfiquem secos.Basã e o Carmelo desfalecem,e as flores do Líbano murcham. 5 Os montes tremem diante dele,e as colinas se derretem.A terra se levanta diante dele,sim, o mundoe todos os seus moradores. 6 Quem pode suportara sua indignação?E quem subsistirá diante do furorda sua ira?A sua cólera se derramacomo fogo,e as rochas são por ele demolidas. 7 O SENHOR é bom,é fortaleza no dia da angústiae conhece os que nele se refugiam. 8 Mas, com inundaçãotransbordante,acabará de uma vezcom o lugar dessa cidade;com trevas, o SENHOR perseguiráos seus inimigos. 9 O que é que vocês estãoplanejando contra o SENHOR?Ele mesmo osconsumirá completamente;a angústia não se levantaráduas vezes! 10 Porque, ainda que elesse entrelacemcomo os espinhose se saturem de vinhocomo bêbados,serão inteiramente consumidoscomo palha seca. 11 De você, Nínive, saiu umque planeja o mal contra o SENHOR,alguém que aconselha a maldade. 12 Assim diz o SENHOR:“Por mais seguros que estejame por mais numerosos que eles sejam,ainda assim serão exterminadose passarão.Meu povo, embora euo tenha afligido,não o afligirei mais. 13 Quebrarei o jugo delesque pesa sobre vocêe romperei os laçosque o prendem.” 14 Porém contra você, Assíria,o SENHOR deu ordempara que não haja posteridadeque leve o seu nome;do templo dos seus deusesexterminarei as imagensde esculturae de fundição.Farei a sua sepultura,porque você é desprezível. 15 Eis sobre os montesos pés do que anuncia boas-novas,do que anuncia a paz!Celebre as suas festas, ó Judá,cumpra os seus votos,porque o ímpionão mais passará por você;ele foi inteiramente exterminado.
